Academic Staff

We are extremely pleased to have Raymond Way, Kelly Bougie and Alain Shank as part of our academic teaching team.

Raymond Way

Raymond Way has been involved in education in every aspect of the continuum; starting his career as a teacher, vice-principal, and principal. His qualification includes a Masters degree in Educational Administration from the University of Ottawa. Qualified at the primary, junior and intermediate divisions, he has taught at all levels of education in a variety of programs including adult education and teaching at the University of Ottawa in curriculum design, evaluation and program development. He has also worked as a Special Assignment Teacher focusing on program development at the junior division. He has been involved in a variety of teacher selection committees at the University of Ottawa and Laurentian University. As a speaker in a variety of educational and motivational settings, he is a proponent of objective setting strategies to maximize performance. Raymond has spent many years as a school vice-principal and principal in elementary dual track schools with special education components. He has also worked at the Faculty of Education of the University of Ottawa as an instructor for the principal qualification courses. He strongly believes that a balanced living and goal setting are important to attaining one's goals. He believes that students need the best environment in order to achieve their career goals.

Kelly Bougie

Kelly Bougie has been teaching in the Ottawa-District School Board for six years and has had the pleasure of teaching grades one through seven. She has her primary, junior and intermediate qualifications and is presently on her way of obtaining her specialist in special education; having completed part one and two. Throughout her varied teaching experiences, she has always been involved beyond the classroom setting offering her students activities outside the curriculum. She has organized and ran a variety of extra-curricular activities such as Borden ball, cross-country, basketball, track and field, primary/junior/intermediate talent shows, school plays, and junior intramurals. She graduated with a degree in Science as a Kinesiologist and also works as a kinesiologist in a physiotherapy clinic during the summers and school holidays. She has been involved in sports throughout her education. She was the high school co-president of athletics and captain of various teams throughout high school. She also received a scholarship in ballet and taught throughout her school years. Kelly has a deep passion for sport and academics. She currently works at Goodlife Fitness as a body pump instructor. She believes in raising the bar and motivating students to pursue their goals and inspirations.

Alain Shank

Alain Shank has always been involved in teaching. In 2007, he formalized his schooling to pursue a teaching career in Australia. He is a graduate from the University of Guelph and received his graduate diploma in teaching at the University of Newcastle, Australia. When he moved back to Canada, he pursued his teaching career at the Ontario Hockey Academy, a private secondary school. Last year, Alain became involved with our academy as the goaltending instructor and volunteered extensively throughout the year. Alain is an accredited teacher from the Ontario College of Teachers and is qualified in both the primary and junior divisions. His various teaching and life experiences allow him to coach and teach students the necessary learning skills required to succeed academically. Alain currently works with the Peak Hockey Programs and is the Assistant Coach with the Kemptville 73’s. He would like to make a noticeable contribution both to the athletic and academic development of the students who attend the Peak Academy.

Paul Robert, Principal

Paul Robert brings a wealth of experience, academic integrity and credibility to our program. We are very fortunate to have such a professional, dedicated educator on our staff as we move forward and grow. Paul has been in education for over 35 years and has assumed leadership in public education through various roles. Paul was a vice-principal for over 15 years and always focused on continuous school improvement with literacy, numeracy and physical education at the core. He always worked collaboratively with diverse teams to create and promote an inclusive culture for learning where adults as well as, students are learners. Paul believes that anything is possible when people work together to make it happen. Paul is excited to begin his second career in a leadership role for elite athletes. He has always been a strong advocate for quality physical education, having taught physical education and coached many extra-curricular teams. He also has had an active hockey background, having coached at various levels; from IP convenor to AA, running a successful summer hockey camp, and managing his professional life around two boys still playing competitive hockey. His youngest son will be attending Peak Academy. Throughout his career, Paul has always believed that learning is enhanced when the body is fit and ready to learn. Paul is thrilled to be working with such a focused and committed team.
